Chiropractic is a brand of health care which is based upon the fact that
good health care, at least in part, depends upon a well functioning nervous
system. The chiropractor is trained in finding subluxations (areas of
the spine which are interfering with proper nerve flow) and correcting them
with specific spinal manipulation techniques. Correcting these
biomechanical deficiencies in the spine have been shown to have many
benefits such as: relieving pain, relaxing tight muscles, alleviating joint
swelling, increasing flexibility of the spine, preventing scar tissue,
speeding up the healing process and reducing the likely hood of re-injury and
degeneration.

Chiropractic goes to the cause of the problem focusing on
the cause/effect and then treating the cause rather than just covering up
the symptom. Doctors of chiropractic use the same methods to diagnosis
as any other health care provider such as: consultation, case history,
orthopedic/neurological testing, lab analysis, and x-ray/MRI studies.
The doctor of chiropractic uses the most up to date and safe methods of
treatment. The actual adjustment feels good and many times patients
will feel immediate relief. Of the major forms of health care,
chiropractic is considered one of the safest, because the chiropractor
aligns the spine so the body can use its own innate ability to heal itself.
If however drugs or surgery are recommended the chiropractor will refer
patients to other health care providers. In fact chiropractors,
medical doctors, surgeons, massage therapist, physical therapist, and other
health care providers are now working together to see that the patient has
the best care to nurture him/her back to optimal health. |
